Our donors are the driving force behind our progress, enabling us to make a real difference in the lives of children and lay a foundation for a future where no child suffers.
Thanks to the generosity of the supporters below and so many other friends, we have been able to bring care, knowledge and support to countless families, educators and communities across the world.
Stavros Niarchos Foundation
The Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF) (www.snf.org) is one of the world’s leading private, international philanthropic organizations, making grants in the areas of arts and culture, education, health and sports, and social welfare. The SNF has been a strong supporter of the Child Mind Institute for many years, and it has provided consistent support to the annual Child Advocacy Award Dinner. The Stavros Niarchos Foundation’s dedication and generosity has extended through the many branches of the Child Mind Institute, as the SNF has also awarded grants to the Healthy Brain Network and Scientific Research Council. These transformative “investments”, totaling in the millions of dollars, prove an unwavering commitment to children’s mental health, and the Stavros Niarchos Foundation has certainly established itself as a leading partner in the field.
Zibby Schwarzman Owens
Zibby is a proud board member, generous supporter and passionate parent advocate of the Child Mind Institute. With gifts totaling $118,000 in FY17, Zibby is an enthusiastic leader of our annual Child Advocacy Award Dinner and Spring Luncheon. In addition, friends and family donated over $12,600 to the Child Mind Institute in celebration of Zibby’s wedding to Kyle Owens in 2017. Zibby has also made a significant donation to the Healthy Brain Network. As a board member, Zibby is a consummate ambassador and creative mind, sharing insights on what parents today are interested in and concerned about. She has used her personal network for good and has been instrumental in introducing new friends and supporters to the mission of the Child Mind Institute.
Fair Lawn High School
Fair Lawn High School in Fair Lawn, NJ, holds an annual “Live to Laugh” fundraiser — an evening of stand-up comedy, written and performed by students enrolled in courses focused on the impact of comedy on culture and society at large. For the second year in a row, Fair Lawn students donated ticket proceeds and donations totaling $1,800 to Project UROK, the Child Mind Institute’s teen and young adult outreach initiative that fights the stigma and isolation of mental illness, engaging teens and young adults in the conversation about mental health in a safe, inclusive community. Project UROK similarly hosts a comedy show fundraiser at the Tribeca Screening Room, bringing together NYC stand-up comics, teen comedians and supporters. “Live to Laugh” and Project UROK’s comedy show fundraiser remind us of the power of speaking up, sharing your story, and supporting those who have a story to tell.
